Best places to buy Thai seaweed and souvenirs BigC Mart and Treasure Warehouse Pharmacy
Our trip to Thailand is coming to an end, but we visit the Ratchadamri branch of the Big C* supermarket near Siam Station in Bangkok to buy souvenirs for our return to Korea.
* Official name is Big C Supercenter, similar to E-Mart and Homeplus in Korea
The building has two floors for food and beverages and three floors for appliances.
People are overwhelmingly gathered at the food and beverage corner on the 2nd floor.
Especially as Bangkok is a tourist city, there are many foreign tourists.
The cost of living is lower than in developed countries, so they buy souvenirs by the box.
To conclude
Recommended souvenirs from Thailand are
1. dried tropical fruits, jelly and honey: dried mango, dried durian, coconut chips, haoriyuan jelly (corn jelly, watermelon jelly, banana jelly), royal honey
2. Thai snacks are also popular as souvenirs: seaweed rolls (Big Roll, Taokenoi), bento (rice cakes), chaosua (Thai rice cakes), bonito cakes, and Koh-Kae peanut snacks.
3. cheap over-the-counter pharmacy medications and candy: hair loss medication (Pyrride*), Tylenol, vitamins, and Propoliz candy for sore throats.
* Half price on prescription Proscar
4. night market elephant magnet or stuffed animal
- Taokenoy Thai seaweed rolls!
- The green color is green and the red color is spicy, so it's popular among women as a diet snack, and you can think of it as a seasoned seaweed flavor.
- One big roll costs 54 baht 2100 won (based on the exchange rate of 39 baht/won on 8/31/2024)
- And they use Korean seaweed, not Chinese seaweed!!!
- No worries about carry-on!!!!
The orange bag of Thai rice snacks, chaosua, is the original, but the red bag of jerky flavor is prohibited from being brought into the country, so you shouldn't buy it as a souvenir (you can only taste it locally...)
I was worried about the coconut chips because they were a little bit ningy, but they were surprisingly more popular than the mango.
I bought the branded KUNNA* durian because of its distinctive smell and taste, but it's not for everyone. Just enough to give you a different experience.
* KUNNA: A Thai snack brand, famous for its high quality and has a separate sales section in Big Cian. Of course, the price is double
Corn jelly, one of the most popular souvenirs, is great for all ages.
Mango jelly, I personally like the mango flavor.
Royal Thai honey, looks fancy and is very affordable, so you get a lot of it.
TIP: Never bring large containers of honey on the plane. You have to put it in your luggage. My friend forgot and threw away 3 bottles on the way in.
BENTO, bought 6 bags but only took 2 because I ate 4 with beer snacks at night,
I bought a lot of blue regular flavors because the red spicy flavor is exported and sold in Korea, but the red is much tastier!! Very important~!!!
Bonito flakes also go straight from the souvenir list to the drink snacks
Dried mango, not necessarily kuna, but regular is good quality too.
Coconut jelly, any good brand
Another best seller, Koh-Kae peanut snacks in shrimp flavor!
Koh-Kae peanut snacks in wasabi flavor!
It's so addictive that we brought it all the way to Korea
Limited Southeast Asia Edition K-Wave Coca-Cola Zero Hallyu and carrots are allowed. I'll eat it. Launched in Korea last month~.
PS: Be careful with the green colored drinks as they contain hemp ingredients.
I bought a lot, but the cost was surprisingly cheap.
PS: Big C is a tax refund store and you can apply for and receive a tax refund document if you spend more than 2,000 baht on the same day. You need to spend more than 5,000 baht in Thailand to get the final declaration at the airport, so get it just in case. Receipt is not a document~.
Second stop, General Pharmacy
888 Mahatun Plaza 1st floor, Phloen Chit Rd, Lumphini, Pathum Wan, Bangkok 10330 Thailand
Siam pharmacy and ps15 pharmacy are said to be top 2 gel cheap in Bangkok
There are production bases of Pfizer and other pharmaceutical companies in Thailand, so medicine is one of the souvenirs.
Also, there are many medicines that can be bought without a prescription.
Hair loss medication (Pyride*), Tylenol, vitamins, and Propoliz candy** are favorites.
* Half the price of prescription Proscar
** Good for a sore throat
Lots of foreign tourists here too
Tylenol half price at Costco San Diego
Condoms are also a popular item
Lots of chopsticks, stacked everywhere with items that sell well on the shelves.
Propoliz candies and throat sprays are the most popular gifts*.
* For teachers, professors, moms, etc. who use their throats a lot.
Thailand is a great place to buy souvenirs because there are so many interesting things and they are cheap even for guys who don't like shopping....
You can buy quite a lot of souvenirs for around 30,000 to 50,000 won, and if you spend more than 100,000 won, it's quite a lot, so you need to look at the volume and see if it can be carried in your suitcase and carry-on (not cosmetics or alcohol).
